The Ultimate Guide To 7mm Beard

Updated on:

In the world of a man, a beard is a big deal. A lot depends on the amount of effort that you’re wanting to put into it on whether or not it’s worth even having and taking care of your beard. And if you’re here to learn everything about a 7mm beard, you’re about to get a lot of information about how to achieve this beard and maintain that length and look as well.

Writing about beard length might sound like an obscure topic but it should come as no surprise that men everywhere pay close attention to the details of their beard. So much so that this is why I’m specifically going to talk to you about the 7mm beard – because men out there prefer this length of beard for a reason.

How many mm should my beard be?

This is totally up to you and your preference. Keep in mind one important reminder. It’s always better to take off small levels of your facial hair a little bit at a time. This is so that you can go shorter if you want to. But if you start off right out of the gate and go super short, you’re going to have to wait until your beard grows out to get it to the exact length that you want.

However, if you start by shaving off a little bit of length, you can then have much more control over the outcome of your beard.

What beard length is most attractive?

Interesting question, right? But it’s an important one. There are different reasons that men have beards and facial hair and one of them is because they’re wanting to be more attractive. As for 2020, short stubble is considered to be the most attractive beard length, followed by a clean-shaven look as well.

How long is 7mm beard?

In writing, it’s hard to describe accurately but to give you a visual, having a 7mm beard is longer than the 5 o’clock shadow and tends to have a bit more length than that.

Should your beard be the same length?

Technically, yes. Your beard should be the same length all over. In fact, this is one of the biggest parts of being able to groom and maintain your beard as you’re trying to get it to that perfect level.

If you find that your beard isn’t the same length all over, it’s actually a very simple process to fix. Start by combing out your beard and getting out any kinks or rats to ensure that all the beard hair is smooth as possible.

Once that is done, you can then use your trimmer or even scissors to even out the length of your beard all over.

How do I shape my beard?

The easiest way to shape your beard is to find a good grooming tool that you can use. This means that you can search online, read reviews, and find a beard trimmer to help you achieve that clean and groomed look each and every day.

You also need to have a good comb, a pair of scissors, good lighting in a room, and a mirror to be certain that you’re able to see your entire face clearly to trim and shape your facial hair as best possible.

How can I make my beard Fuller?

Patchy facial hair sucks. Plain and simple. In fact, it’s one of the biggest reasons that a lot of men actually give up on their hopes of growing their hair. This is because if you’re missing patches of facial hair, it won’t matter how long your beard actually is. From short beards to long beards, not having facial hair in certain areas will show no matter what.

You can try to make your beard fuller by adding oils and trying to stimulate the hair follicles in that area. This isn’t a given but could be a potential avenue to getting the hair to start growing in those areas or even becoming thicker over time.

Should I trim my beard while growing it out?

Yes, you should. Trimming your beard is actually going to be a requirement for the rest of your beard hair to continue growing. And if you’re worried that trimming your hair will continue to make it short, you’re not actually going to be trimming off that much of your facial hair to make an overall difference.

You’re literally going to be trimming the hair slightly on your face to get rid of those “dead ends” so that your beard hair can continue to grow in a healthy and efficient manner.

Should I shave my neck when growing a beard?

Yes! Never forget about the neck. If you’ve ever heard of the term “werewolf neck”, this is where it comes from. Men tend to put a lot of focus on their beard hair and start to neglect the other areas of their face and neck.

An easy way to make certain that you’re staying on top of your neck hair is to just set a reminder on your phone to shave your neck at least once a week. Soon it’ll become a habit and you won’t even have to think about it again.

Is Vaseline good for your beard?

It can actually be a great resource that can help soften your beard hair while also providing moisture as well. Put Vaseline on your beard a few times per week and you just might be surprised with the outcome of how it changes the texture and feel of your beard.

What causes beard growth?

The human body is an amazing thing. For men, hormones will cause their facial hair to grow. For this to occur, the men really don’t have to do anything, either. It’s the natural testosterone in the male body that will have the hair growing easily on its own.

This doesn’t mean that all facial hair and body hair on men will grow at the same pace, but it does mean that as long as the hormones are there, the hair will grow.

Now that you know some of the main questions that are asked by men pertaining to beards, let’s dive into a few more specifics about the 7mm length as well.

What Does A 7mm Beard Actually Look Like?

Keep in mind that having a 7mm beard looks pretty standard across the board. More than likely, you’ve got other guy friends who prefer this length of beard as well.

But also, keep in mind, that there are MANY different lengths of beards that are quite popular, too. If you’re wondering what a 7mm beard actually looks like, there are a few things to keep in mind.

Since the beard length of 7mm is going to be a bit longer than other beard lengths, this also means that the thickness of the beard is going to vary as well.

For a true 7mm beard, the beard is going to have an in-between status between the stubble look and a full-grown build. It’s long enough to need to shape and comb but not long enough to have your facial hair looking all wild and crazy.

To get a bit more precise, the feel of a 7mm beard is also a bit softer in texture as well. Do you know how stubble feels a bit rough on the hands and face? This length of beard won’t feel that way because it’s past that “stubble” stage.

In short, a 7mm beard tends to have a fuller and thicker look to it, making everyone know that you’re definitely trying to grow and maintain your beard.

What is the length of time that it will take to grow a 7mm beard?

The length of time that it takes to grow a 7mm beard will vary from person to person. On average, you can expect to grow a beard of this length in about 12-14 days. This means that in about 2 weeks of time, you can expect to have a 7mm beard, or at least be very close to it.

Keep in mind that this is just an average and some men might be able to grow a beard of this length faster while others may take longer than the 14-day time span.

How can I stimulate hair growth?

If you’re feeling impatient about your facial hair growth, there are a few tricks that you can try to see if it will help you grow your facial hair any faster. One of the biggest ways to try to stimulate hair growth is to massage your facial skin and keep it moisturized as well.

By doing this, it might help to stimulate your follicles to encourage them to grow a little bit more quickly than before. This isn’t a given but it’s minimal effort to try that might have a positive effect on helping you grow your beard faster.

What should you use to trim your beard?

There are many ways that you can trim your beard and keep it trimmed for the future but using a beard trimmer with the proper guard is key. There are many different beard trimmers on the market that you can easily purchase and use as needed.

Make certain that you find a beard trimmer that has good reviews and comes with all the necessary tools to ensure the accuracy of your trimming needs. Again, have guards that you can attach to your beard trimmer should be something high on your list as well.

The guards will help guide you a bit and keep you from making a nick or mistake in your beard that you didn’t want to be there.

Some men also like to use scissors to trim their beard but when you’re relying solely on scissors, there really isn’t going to be an accurate way of ensuring that the beard hair is all the same length.

What Length Should I Make My Beard?

Since this post is about 7mm beards, we’re going to focus on that length when discussing this point. If you’re on the fence about have a beard that is 7mm in length, here are some positives to consider about why this length of beard might be just what you need.

It’s a good way to “cover” certain areas

Let’s be honest. As we all age, our face might start to show some that wear and tear. This could be added weight gain showing on the face, scars from over time, or just an unclear complexion that you’re overly tired of trying to take care of. When you can grow a beard of this length, it’s a nice and easy way to cover up that area of your face so you don’t have to worry about it anymore.

It’s no longer itchy

You know that feeling, right? When your beard is trying to grow and it’s just an unnerving itching that you can’t stop. But once your beard gets to that 6-7mm mark, that itchy feeling goes away, and the facial hair becomes a lot smoother than before.

And since it’s then less itchy to you, it’s also less itchy for everyone else as well. If you have kids or a loved one, rubbing a stubble face on their face can actually hurt! A longer beard doesn’t give that feeling and is actually quite soft.

It gives you flexibility

The other great aspect of having a beard of this length is that it gives you flexibility for options. If you want to grow out your beard longer, it’s an easy transition to occur. And this is the same and true for if you want to cut your beard shorter as well.

Since you’re rocking a medium-length beard with the 7mm cut, you can go longer or shorter easily by changing up your habits. This means that you can switch up your look quite easily with a couple of easy changes to your grooming habits.

And since it only takes about 14 days to grow that length from no facial hair, it will take even less time if you’ve cut your beard shorter than that to get it back to that original length.

But just as there are positives to this length, there are a few negatives to think about as well.

This length of beard will take more maintenance

Since your facial hair is going to continue to grow daily, you’ll have to be able to groom your facial hair so that you stay as close to that length as possible. This also means that you’ll have to comb your beard, shape your beard, and continue to groom your beard daily or at least every other day to maintain this look, feel, length, and shape.

You’ll have to style your beard daily

With the facial hair being longer for this style, you will have to put in the effort to keep your beard looking clean and fresh. And while this won’t take a ton of time, it will require you to factor in that amount of time on a daily basis as well.

If you don’t, your beard will look a bit chaotic and cause you to possibly look messy, too. The easiest way to get into a habit of styling your beard is to wake up and just make it a part of your morning process. That way you know that you need to allot time for it daily so that it becomes a part of your daily routine.

How To Groom Your 7MM Beard

Since we’re talking about that there will be a bit of grooming needed to maintain your 7mm beard, here are a few grooming tips to keep in mind.

Pay attention to the entire area of your face and neck

Just because you might have your focus on your beard, don’t forget that you’re going to have to pay attention to the other areas of your face and neck. There are areas on your face that might try to grow hair that you’ll need to trim during this time, as well as hair on your neck that you’ll want to pay attention to as well.

Your neck hair will probably be the biggest area to remember as this will grow quite rapidly if you’re not trimming it.

Comb your beard daily

You might think this sounds a bit crazy, but it’s important to do. This is because you’re attempting to train your beard hair to lie down properly which will then making the grooming process a lot easier each and every day.

Use products on your facial hair

I’m unsure as to why, but beard hair and facial hair just tend to be a bit rougher to the touch. But even knowing that, there are things that you can do to help make it a softer texture.

One of the easiest ways to help soften up your facial hair is to put a beard oil on it or to apply Vaseline to it to soften overnight.

Don’t forget to moisture your skin on your face as well

The last thing that you want is to have dry skin on your face that can then come through your beard hair. If this happens, you’ll have dry skin flaking through your beard, and who really wants that?

Different lengths of beards

I wouldn’t be doing my due diligence if I didn’t talk about a few other lengths of beards as well. This way you can make an educated decision about the type and length of beard that you’re wanting.

Short Beards

Like the title of this says, let’s talk about short beards. Short beards are going to be considered anything less than 5mm in length. With a short beard, you don’t really have to worry about overall length as long as you keep it a close shave, you should be fine.

Short beards work well for people who are running short on time and who are needing to have minimal maintenance besides just a need here and there to trim up.

Stubble can be classified as a part of the short beard but could technically be a classification all on its own as well. Stubble is probably the easiest beard length to strive for since you just have to trim it and shave it every once in a while.

Medium beard

The 7mm beard falls into this category of beards. Since we’ve talked about all the ways to groom this length of beard, make certain to read the words above for a quick and simple recap of information.

Long Beard

It’s safe to say that this would be anything over 10mm or above. Long beards actually require quite a bit of maintenance and grooming since there is a bigger chance that the long hairs will go crazy and astray throughout the day.

And even though it’s really unpleasant to think about, food and other things can easily get caught in longer beards, too. For a longer beard, you can assume that you’ll have to take time each and every morning to groom the long beard hair on your face.

Who knew that there was so much information about beards?! And depending on what you’re hoping and trying to accomplish with your beard, you’re going to find out that there is even more information out there about grooming and taming your beard as well.

As a final thought regarding the 7mm beard, make certain that you’re ready for the commitment that comes along with the maintenance and grooming of this length. It’s really quite an attractive and popular cut for men but it does require effort and energy on your part to make it look that way.

If you’re unsure, give it a try. The good thing about beards is that you’re not committed forever to one style or cut. If you love the length and the maintenance, awesome. Keep with it and do your thing.

But if you don’t, shave it off and start again to find the length of beard that is perfect for you.
