12 Secrets Men Will Never Tell Their Wives

Alex Brown

A man and his wife are supposed to be so close; they’re practically best friends, and you’ll expect that they talk to each other about everything. However, here are 12 secrets that perfectly prove that this may not always be the case:

He Sometimes Feels Insecure

Because of the way society is, men usually have to act like they have it all figured out, and nothing really fazes them again. This is a habit that they eventually carry into marriage, preferring to handle everything themselves rather than letting their partners see them as afraid or unsure.

The reason for this is simple: vulnerability is viewed as a chink in their armor, contradicting the societal expectation of unwavering male strength. So even when he gets unsure about something, he’ll rather speak to his buddies about it than tell his wife.

He Sometimes Misses His Bachelor Life

For most married men, their bachelor phase was marked with lots of fun and minimal responsibilities. Then, they could do things on a whim and just have fun without worrying about the consequences. So, it’s actually not uncommon for a man to reminisce about his bachelor days.

This doesn’t mean that he regrets his current life, but sometimes, he misses the freedom and lack of responsibilities that came with being single. However, it’s nearly impossible to share such feelings and not expect people to interpret them as unhappiness in marriage.

He Craves Alone Time

Being married means that you have to share your sauce and time with someone else. For most men, this isn’t really a problem since they’re used to having people around. However, every man still has this craving for alone time when he can focus on just himself. The alone time could be because he wants to indulge in his hobbies or simply because he needs time for personal reflection.

Every man always has internal struggles where children are concerned. Whether they have children already or not, the pressure of how to be the perfect father is there regardless. e might worry about not spending enough time with his children, not being a good role model, or failing to provide for their needs. But men will never tell their wives about these struggles because they don’t want to appear incompetent.

He Doesn’t Know How To Really Communicate His Feelings

It’s a common misconception that women are more emotional than men; however, the truth is men are arguably just as emotional. They tend to have problems communicating how they feel clearly. For example, many men love and appreciate their wives a great deal, especially for the small things they do. But he may never mention it due to difficulty in finding the right words or a misguided belief that his actions alone should convey his appreciation.

Men are generally very competitive, and this doesn’t change even after they get married. However, this isn’t born out of jealousy as much as a desire to not be deemed incompetent or lazy.

He Fears Losing Her

Your husband may act all nonchalant or stoic, but deep down; he actually fears that he’ll lose you to another man or maybe even accidents and illnesses. Because of this, you’ll notice that he sometimes acts in an overprotective manner to make sure you’re okay, but he’ll never really tell you why he’s acting like that. After all, telling you will be equal to him admitting he has insecurities and feels fear.

He Enjoys Your Little Quirks

Tell a man to honestly say five things he loves about his wife, and you’ll quickly come to realize that it’s all in the little things. Considering that his wife might be self-conscious about whatever quirks she has, he might not tell her that he actually loves it, lest she thinks he’s not sincere. However, you can bet that these things hold a special place in his heart, and he can watch her all day long.

Yes, people often say comparison is bad and that it’s not something you should do, but men really can’t help it. With every encounter with other men, no matter how brief, there’s a sort of sizing up that goes on, usually relating to appearance, lifestyle, or even relationship health. Again, this isn’t borne out of jealousy but a desire to prove to himself that he’s actually getting it right in these areas.

Financial stability is a major concern for most men. This is unsurprising; after all, one of the major metrics society uses to judge a man is his ability to provide for his family.
